Stanford Addition

The second floor addition to this charming one-story home is discretely hidden behind an existing front gable. This maintains the character of the front facade while continuing the “cottage” look with the lines of the new addition to the rear. The second floor adds two bedrooms and a shared bathroom but also expands the master bedroom into a “bonus” space under the original front gable. The kitchen was fully remodeled and a two story rear deck added.

Washington Avenue Residence

University City has great family neighborhoods. With a new baby our Washington Avenue clients needed an extra bedroom and more living space. The new addition provides a large master suite. (The older child gets the old master bedroom of course!) The first floor includes a new breakfast room and sunroom next to a large family room, connecting back to the existing kitchen and living room. A previous remodeling took the original basement garage for living space so the addition includes a new two car garage with a lower level entry and bathroom. The new addition uses paneled siding and wood trim to compliment the traditional brick home.

Using a flowing Country French concept, the undulating façade is composed of connected hipped elements. Tall, shuttered French windows and doors, stone terraces, varying eave heights, and extensive exterior plaster detailing gives this house an elegant appearance. A large two-story gallery with a curved staircase and columned openings create a dramatic interior.

Cornell Avenue Residence

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri

Our Cornell Avenue clients wanted separate bedrooms for each of their four children, as well as a large Kosher kitchen. The rear addition provides a new kitchen with double appliances, breakfast room, and an adjoining deck. An open stairway connects the kitchen to a sunny lower level playroom opening to the existing driveway. By relocation the kitchen we were able to combine the original kitchen and dining room into a large entertaining area. The second floor includes two new bedrooms as well as renovations for a new hall bath and master bath.

Mardel Carriage House

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri

Our client needed a two car garage. He also wanted a workshop and a small apartment for out-of-town guests. The corner lot required a strong street presence for the structure. Our solution was a two story building trimmed to look like a one story building with a dormer.

Designed for an existing lot backing to a golf course, this elegant house uses Prairie Style elements with a variety of frame and stucco detailing. The children renovated the family home to make the house accessible for their elderly mother. The projected included a first floor master bedrooms suite and two-car garage, as well as renovating and expanding the kitchen and breakfast room, and adding a large great room. The additions maintain the traditional Georgian style of the house.
